New Things (volume 2)

Katy has figured out how to wave hello. It is so cute when she does it and just cracks me up. She doesn't just wave with her arm, she waves with her whole body. Waving is her new trick and she does it all the time. I know it's just a little thing, but I think it's so cool that she has picked up on that and we really haven't done it much with her. I need to take some more pictures of her, I haven't shot any for about 2 weeks. I feel like I'm starting to go through photo withdraws.

So Close

Katy is getting really close to crawling. She has been rocking a bit on her knees and now she is very effectively pushing herself backwards. She hasn't quite made any forward progress yet, but at least she isn't screaming bloody murder everytime she is laying down. In fact on Sunday afternoon, she was rolling from her back to tummy, getting up on her knees and then rolling to her back again. All over the floor in these funny little circles. She has also learned how to scoot a bit on her butt if she REALLY want something. Here is a picture of her trying to get on her knees. Go baby Go!!!

Cancer

My great grandma has cancer. We received the results of her biopsy a couple of days ago and that's what it is. CANCER!! I can hardly believe it. She seems so vibrant, so young, so healthy. Grandma will be 80 in August and I don't know if she will make it until then. They have said there is no cure, that the cancer is so far progressed and so aggressive that treatment at this point would be useless. We are praying for no pain, and some happy times before she goes. Grandma doesn't want us to have false hope, she wants us to be realistic and prepared for what's going to happen. She wants us to spend time with her and to love being with her. The doctor has given her 6 months to 1 year. That is not much time. Katy will be a year old in just a few months and time has gone so quickly. Every minute counts and this has really made me realize that more than ever. I've been so anxious for Katy to crawl, yet I want her to be little for ever, I want her to be safe and always with me. We watched RENT over the weekend and it really put things in perspective, we only have today!! Live it to the fullest. I've decided I'm not going to worry and obsess about my messy house anymore, I'm going to sit and play with my daughter and enjoy every, single, silly, fun, wonderful moment with her. I'm going to worry about money less, you can't take it with you anyway. I'm going to laugh more and forgive. If there is anything my Grandma taught me over the years it's patience and love. She is the most gentle, yet determined person I have ever known. We will miss her when she's gone, but we will love her while she's still here!! We will enjoy the time we have and revel in the good!!

update

Sorry I have been such a slacker and not written for a few days. My great grandmother Eunice Harmon has been in the hospital since last Thursday and we had a lot of family here over the last couple of days. They all just barely left on Monday night late. Grandma is doing much better now and it looks like she will pull through just fine, for being almost 80 years old. We had a few scary days, but everything seems to be back where it should be now. I will write more tomorrow or Friday when I have more time. We will be getting the internet at home in a few weeks and then I will really be able to keep things updated.

Finally Done

Here are photos of my NEW office, from start to finish. I know it doesn't look to glamorous in the pictures, but it is a HUGE improvement at what I used to look at all day.

New Things

Why is it that children adjust to things so easily, while the parents are left wondering and worrying if everything will be okay. Katy has started going to a new daycare this week and I thought it would be a huge adjustment for all of us. Was I ever wrong. It has only been an adjustment to me. Katy is fine and seems to be adjusting just fine. She went to Miss Laurie just fine this morning and was too distracted to even give me a kiss goodbye. I love the new daycare center, it is a better location for us and they have less kids, which makes me much more comfortable. I feel like this is the place that we will be until she is 12. That's how much I like it. Anyway, lest I ramble on I better get back to work.

Painting

I'm supposed to have my office painted by the end of today. The end being midnight right? I have tried to start this project all week long, but finally got it started just yesterday afternoon. I was here until 8 o'clock last night painting away. I will post pictures when it is finished. What paint my own office you say. Yes I have to paint my own office. However I got to pick out the colors and border, I didn't have to pay for the materials, and I will finally have something to LOOK at besides white all day long. Well I best get back to my project. I really hope I get this done today, so I don't have to come in tomorrow.
