Weekend Drama

I love spending time with family. I really truly do and that is not said sarcastically. It is one of my favorite things to do anytime I can. However when I'm in a funk, or bad mood I just want to be alone. I was in a funk on Saturday. Which didn't make for a fun day with family. John had Friday afternoon off from work so he could go see his family. His oldest brother Richard was here from Utah, who is going through a divorce and really needs the support of his family. So on Friday after I got off work I headed up to his parents house to visit and spend the night. Long story short: I didn't sleep well Friday night, I never do in that bed. Katy was sleeping with us and I never sleep good when she is in the same room, every little noise wakes me up. Saturday everyone was sitting around just have a complain fest about John's dad. Who is a nice guy, but can be quite the jerk sometimes. I know this, everyone else know this. So why must we go over every single little thing that he has ever done. Oh it annoys me!! Nothing puts me in a grumpier mood faster than when people are going on and on about useless stuff. The fact of the matter is that no one will ever say anything to him, they just sit and around and bitch. So I wasn't really being myself. I was just being quiet and trying to read my book. Usually I would be joining the conversation and being more loud than quiet. When I was getting ready to leave to go to a baby shower, I asked John to help me get the baby's stuff packed up. Well he kind of started to whine and I had just had it, so I snapped at him in FRONT of his family, I mean really snapped at him. (by the way, I don't recommend doing this.) So then when I left I found out later that after I left they were quizzing John about what was wrong and why was I in such a bad mood. Did I hate them or something? (we have had problems in the past with other DIL getting mad and then not ever coming back.) Well in the long run it was much more drama than needed to be. I ended up getting upset and offended a bit. Why didn't anyone JUST ask ME what was wrong? Why do they think that I won't talk to them if they ask something personal? I just don't get it. Later though I did have a good talk with John and relayed my frustration to him. He explained that because of having problems with other DIL's they don't want to offend anyone or say anything to upset me. Well to be honest I was MORE offended that they didn't ask. However I can also understand where they are coming from and see how they might feel a little uncomfortable. It just irks me that 98% of the time his family is so open about things, sometimes too open, yet they can't ask me a simple question. His sister Melissa did ask me later at the baby shower what was wrong. I quickly explained that I just wasn't having the greatest day and that it was a REALLY long week. Problem solved and I appreciated so much that she has the nerve and courtesy to JUST ask. Sorry for the long post, hope you took a pee break before you started reading this!!

American Idle

I don't know how many of you are into American Idle. I myself have watched it here and there, but not religiously. I have a friend that went to the auditions for the last seaon in Denver and here is something cool we found on their website. Emily is the one in red with a denim jacket one. Yay Emily, way to be for having the guts to even go and try out. Heaven knows I never would have done it. Emily has an awesome voice by the way and they are jerks for not picking her.

Grateful

Today John got off work early and is spending the afternoon with Katy. She loves her Daddy so much and gets so excited when he comes in, it's one of my favorite things to watch. John is taking her up to his parents house, so he can visit with his brother Richard. That's right, he is going to his PARENT'S house to watch her. Now granted he did offer to pick her up early from daycare and was excited to spend the day with her. However he was also relieved when he found out his mom was going to be there and it wasn't just going to be the boys. It is so funny sometimes how he gets nervous about watching her, but he always does a great job. Seriously I'm so grateful to have a husband that WANTS to spend time with our daughter and OFFERS to do it. My dad never did that and I always wish that he had. I don't think that he didn't want to spend time with me, he just didn't know what to do when I was around. He felt inept. John feels that way sometime too, like he doesn't do as good a job as I do. Heck sometimes I feel like he is the one that does a better job. We all feel inadequate and get frustrated sometimes that is why I'm so glad I have a good husband who is there to take over when I'm at my wits end. I know that he will have fun with Katy today and I'm excited to see them both tonight and here about what they did.

New Teeth

To some this may not be too exciting, but to me, it is the biggest thing to happen since, I don't know sliced bread or something equally chessy. My baby has TWO teeth, that's right not one, but two!! You can barely see them because they have just come in, but boy are they about the cutest thing ever. I love when she smiles now and you can see these two little white things down on the bottom. It is just adorable. Of course I think everything about her is adorable. I might be a tiny, eensy weensy, bit biased, but then again what mother isn't when it comes to their child(ren?) Well it isn't much, but that's all the update I have for today! Oh yeah one more thing. John's oldest brother Richard is coming for the weekend, so that will be fun to see him again. Also we might get to see Cassi and James again this weekend. ;^)

Picture for blogger

New Team Member

One of the agents I work with just had a baby yesterday. Actually it was his wife that had the baby, but that's just a small technicality right? Anyway, they named her Korra Lynne. She is very beautiful and I'm so happy for them. This is their 1st girl, but 4th child. Congratulations you two, many happy wishes for a wonderful daughter. She was 8 lbs 5 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. What a sweetie.

My Day

Today is my birthday! Yay, I'm a whole 22 years old. It's funny how some people make a big deal out of your birthday when really it is just another day. Yeah it's great when people remember to call and wish you a great one, but I still have to go to work, I still have to change poopy diapers, I still have to clean the house, I still have to do everything I do all the time. So really it is just another day, but now I'm older. One thing I will say that is much better about this birthday compared to last is that I'm not throwing up. That's right I spent my 21st pucking, not from a hangover either (although that might have been a bit more fun), but because of morning sickness. I didn't just throw up that morning either, no it was an ALL day thing. So yeah this birthday is pretty good, because I'm not pregnant and I'm not ralphing. Instead I was awoken at the blessed hour of 4:30 a.m. to spend an hour with my daughter. The wonderful joys of motherhood. I love every exhausting minute of it. At least this birthday she gave me a big one toothed grin, instead of something not so pleasant.

Thought for the Day

I found this thought and it gave me a good laugh. Thought (no pun intended) I would share. "Eternity's a terrible thought. I mean where's it all going to end?" - Tom Stoppard Seriously though this guy has a point. I think how long one day or one week can last and eternity is really hard to comprehend. I wonder if when we get to heaven and are living out the eternity's if the days will run into each other, smootly flowing from one to the next. Anyway something to think about and make your head spin.

Getting Started

Okay, I have decided to become a full fledge blogger or something like that. I was using Yahoo 360 but it was kind of a pain, so here we go. Everyone tells me that they want more updates and pictures of what is going on in our life. Well now you can know the innermost details, whether you want to or not. I will be using this mostly as a journal, just writing down thoughts and things that have happened to me and our little family. We had a really fun weekend with Cassi and James who came to visit from Logan. On Saturday we went to see "Narnia" which was wonderful and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Cassi and James watched Kathryn over night on both Friday and Saturday nights, so John and I could get some much needed rest. Kathryn is still not sleeping through the night consistently and had been sick last week, making nights harder than usual. We really appreciated them taking her for us. I really loved this picture of Katy sitting with her Aunt Cassi. The break was nice, but we really missed waking up to her happy smiling face. She is such a good baby and happy, happy most of the time. We really hate it when she is grumpy, because it is so out of character for her. Well I'm going to go back about my business. Don't forget to check back for more tales from our life. I'll try to write about something more entertaining next time.
